Le Mans 1969

14th & 15th June 1969.

Only five GT40s in the race in this year. Two others had been entered but failed to make the start. Both of the cars entered by JWA were the same cars that had raced the previous year and weren't expected to be competitive.

GT40P/1076 in the paddock prior to the start of the race. It's only when you see a GT40 with more mundane vehicles such as the Corsair in the background, that you begin to realise just how advanced its looks were.

Pit stop Le Mans 1969. The car is refuelled as Jackie Oliver exits the car. Jacky Ickx, standing by the pit wall, awaits his stint at the wheel - GT40P/1075. Ickx was to win the Le Mans 24 Hour Race more times than any other driver, 1969 was his first win. Jackie Oliver currently runs the Arrows Formula 1 Team.
